Types of Volleyball Camps Where You Can Improve Your Hitting and Spiking Skills

Types of Hitting and Blocking Volleyball Camps
The goal in attending a camp for hitters is for you to become the "go to" hitter on your team. A hitter's camp usually will break down and emphasize all attacking skills including footwork, arm swing work, timing principles, various attack routes, back court attacking and body control repetitions. You should look for camps that offer instruction on proper arm swing, hand contact and footwork to the ball. Hitter camps should teach all the basic and advanced elements of a strong attack and give you strong and effective hitting advice based on whether you are a middle hitter or outside hitter. Based on your playing experience, when you leave camp you should at least have a working knowledge of how to score against a double block and have improved your timing for high balls and/or quick sets.
Setter/Hitter
The setter/hitter volleyball camp is typically intended for experienced players who want to concentrate on the offensive aspect of the game. Coaches will have the setters and hitters work in separate groups in order to isolate specific skills and then they are brought together to work side-by-side in order to practice game-like situations. This type of camp is recommended for players who are club or high school varsity team members. Players should expect to receive quality coaching instruction, lots of repetitions and an abundance of opportunities to compete.
Hitter/Blocker
Hitter/Blocker camp is created for all front row players, and campers are required to train specifically at their positions. This type of camp usually breaks down and analyzes the spike approach technique combined with the elements that make up the arm swing, and the execution of play sets. As a camper you should expect to improve and quicken your arm swing, improve the timing of your spike approach, and work with setters to develop and expand your shot selection while learning to score more points. Players at this camp train to improve their blocking technique, their ability to read hitters and setters, and learn how to become better defensive players while at the net.
Passing and Hitting Boot Camp
The passing and hitting boot camp is targeted to the experienced hitter interested in maximizing her volleyball potential. This camp is for all hitting positions and offers hitters the opportunity to learn various spiking and hitting techniques which generally include shot selection, how to use the block, passing techniques and learning and practicing how to hit quicker specialty sets and the fast attack. This type of hitters boot camp normally focuses on the fundamentals and basics of hitting and progresses along with a multitude of repetitions. Ideally, coaches incorporate the use of video to break down, to analyze and to give instructions about form, technique and movement training of both forearm passing and spiking.
