Plyometric exercises for volleyball are the best thing that you can do to ensure your place on any team, be it high school, college or professional. Are you sick of not being picked to be on the volleyball team of your choice? Any coach would love to have a player that has a good vertical leap. If you can jump high, you can be a starter on any volleyball team. Most people spend all of their time practicing all of the skills that you usually do in volleyball workout drills. But then they don't set apart any time to focus on jump training when that is what wins games. I'm not saying that you don't need any of the other skills, I am simply saying that you could have the best ball control of any other person but if you can't jump high, you will not make the team.
Volleyball Workout Drills:
Box Jumps- With no rest between reps.
Sprints- Very short distances (the length of the court)
Squats- Low reps with a lot of speed.
So how do you learn to jump higher for volleyball? With plyometric exercises! You have to train with plyometric workouts to increase your vertical jump. Not everyone will be able to jump the same but everybody can increase their vertical leap with simple workouts. You just have to train for jumping as hard as you train for any other skill for volleyball. Just playing volleyball everyday does not constitute jump training. You have to follow set workouts that are designed to make you jump higher. This means that you will might have to stop playing so much volleyball to get better at it.
